Morta Produce Story
Established in the village of Baiama, Kono District, Sierra Leone, Morta Produce Ltd is a family run business with collaborative efforts of Tamba Senessie and his nephew Sengai Senessie. Morta translates from the local dialect of Baiama, Kono to mean “Our Own”.
Baiama has been the home to the Yambasu family for generations and the wider community has a deep history in farming and agriculture. Morta Produce places special emphasis on produce being home grown, ethically sourced and adopting organic methods. With some of the main produce including speciality and conventional cocoa beans, Robusta coffee, fruits and timber.
Along with the vision of becoming one of the leading agricultural produces buyers and exporters our main vision for self-sustainability through optimisation through the rich history and expertise of agriculture.

At MORTA PRODUCE, we are committed to providing a sustainable source of income for farmers of agriculture produce including cocoa and coffee within Sierra Leone. Moreover, agricultural production can be a catalyst for social development, empowering communities through employment opportunities and infrastructure improve
Baiama and its surrounding villages are highly rich in cocoa and coffee productions. Baiama Town of itself is surrounded by two rivers which are Gbaya and Wowa. These two rivers supply these vast lands with good soil for both cocoa and coffee productions. These two rivers hardly dry during the dry season, and in the rainy season both of them flow under the cocoa and coffee gardens.
Although there are other plantations among the lots, the most prominent are the cocoa and coffee plantations. It is a main source of economy in the township and even the surrounding villages. There are diamonds and gold, but more attention is focused on cocoa and coffee. The aim of growing those commodities is to strengthen the growing communities by expanding opportunities for youths and young adults through relevant education since 1960 up till now.

Since the war the Kono District known for diamonds, gold and other minerals and produce had to rebuild both land, social infrastructure and economy The cocoa and coffee plantations act as a catalyst to build dwellings for the displaced farmers with out a home in the township of Baiama.
